Blow The Bloody Doors Off !
With Blow The Bloody Doors Off !, Catherine Diverrès “subjects” the choreographic writing to the musical score of Jean-Luc Guionnet, a composer and long-term accomplice. A concerto led by 8 dancers and 7 instrumentalists.
“There are no boundaries, no temporal limits to elective affinities.”, said Catherine Diverrès. In Blow The Bloody Doors Off !, the choreographer smashes her own principles to pieces, in total confidence with the composer Jean-Luc Guionnet and the percussionist Seijiro Murayama, long-term accomplices. Imagined as a concerto, the piece is based on junctions, connexions between musicians of the Dedalus ensemble and the dancers, all physically present on set, modelling space and time. With precision and wild elegance, these two not being contradictory with Catherine Diverrès, there is also a tribal energy. Whereas everything rumbles or whistles like warnings to keep one’s ears open, the choreographer asks: “Is it possible go back to the spontaneity of childhood with the present energy ?”. Without a doubt, as this show also deals with giddiness, mirrors, and markers to be moved past, as the title indicates.
