Alban Richard / Arnaud Rebotini
Does the body harangue? With a techno symphony played live by Arnaud Rebotini, Alban Richard has conceived a choreography that takes its energy from the fervour. Eloquent bodies, sermons and slogans, this choreographic, musical and visual montage is exhilarating.
Four determined dancers, moved by words that only they can hear, deliver their messages. With a vocabulary of movements taken from political demonstrations, street speeches and the sermons of four American preachers, they exhaust their bodies by transposing the prosodies. Alban Richard – director of the CCN of Caen in Normandy – has come back to Chaillot with his singular signature, his precise writing based on a skilful arrangement of choreographic, musical and luminous scores that mutually show themselves. After creations with many musical ensembles and composers, he has joined forces today with Arnaud Rebotini, the dandy of French electro – César 2018 for the soundtrack of 120 battements par minute. A concert with analog machines, projected images, loudspeakers, disco balls and strobe lights contribute in a spectacular interference, an immersive plunge. What power does the body’s eloquence discern?
