Lettres jamais écrites
As an author and stage director attentive to youth, Estelle Savasta has invited 15 teenagers to write letters that they had never written before, then entrusting 15 authors with their answers. Two actors let us hear this unprecedented correspondence.
There was this first set of instructions, during a residency in a high school: “Write the letter that you have never written.” Everyone took part in the game. Deeply moved by these teen words on living, the future, life, Estelle Savasta entrusted each letter to an author, who replied to is as if he/she was the recipient, “as if he was this father absent on the day of the birth, this mother who cannot say “me too” or this existence that one doesn’t know how to lead”. These epistolary, anonymous and ephemeral relationships, between a teenager and an adult, between reality and its fiction, bring to mind cracks, febrile love stories, mad hopes. Animated by the necessary encounter with the other and his/her gaze, Estelle Savasta carried out a writing and creative process in collaboration with those to which she was addressing herself. Sitting around two actors, in an intimate setting, everyone is invited to discover these letters being read, their consequent answers, and to contribute in making each performance unique.
