Romances Inciertos, un autre Orlando
Romances Inciertos is a trip through time, led by musicians gathered around Nino Laisné. It’s François Chaignaud, an exceptional dancer, that created the choreography of this “other Orlando”. A saga of metamorphoses.
A trip that is as musical as it is choreographic, Romances Inciertos delves into Spanish traditional music of the 16th and 17th centuries to stage skilful metamorphoses and to give to see the rebirth of “characters that don’t have a choice other than to transform reality to the measure of their desire”. Like Virginia Woolf’s Orlando, François Chaignaud shows the full extent of his talent on stage, taking on different identities: a young girl disguised as a soldier, the troublingly androgynous figure of San Miguel or the Tarara with a complex and sulphurous personality. Chaignaud is all of these “romances” at the same time, while the musicians elaborate motifs of rare delicacy using the theorbo, the viola de gamba, the bandoneon and the baroque guitar. The result, these Romances Inciertos, whose stage and musical direction is ensured by Nino Laisné, takes on the form of a living canvas. A timeless creation that fascinates by its certain audacity between tradition and modernity. Great art.
