GöteborgsOperans Danskompani / Damien Jalet
The GöteborgsOperans Danskompani is the company of the moment in Scandinavia and its international reputation is constantly increasing. Skid proposes a dance that will knock you off your feet, in all of its senses. Be prepared for thrills.
In Skid, the stage is inclined by 34 degrees. For the 17 dancers of this opus event, the idea is to play as much with gravity as with abandonment, in order to create a humanity in movement. A chain of physical and emotional reactions makes Skid a creation flirting with danger, humour and speed. “Everything the dancers will do will be different. They must learn to move themselves in this environment” sums up the choreographer. A tour de force that was already saluted by the public and the critics when it was created last year. Furthermore, Damien Jalet, a dancer that was revealed alongside Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, emancipates himself even more with this upside down choreography! With the GöteborgsOperans Danskompani, he has found a formidable mentoring. We like his quality of movement, the sensuality of his gesture, his generous virtuosity: Skid is new proof of his protean talent.
